Pass By: Mamula Fortress, Island Lastavica, Herceg-Novi, Herceg-Novi Municipality Montenegro
Herceg Novi bay
It is also home to Mamula, an uninhabited islet dominated by a former Austro-Hungarian fortress.
Stop At: Our Lady of the Rocks, Island in Boka Bay, Perast, Kotor Municipality 85336 Montenegro
Stop at the small island in the middle of the bay that is home to Our Lady of the Rocks Church. Legend has it the artificial island was created stone by stone from local fishermen who would lay stones upon a specific rock where shipwrecked crewmen saw her and decided to build a church in tribute.
Step inside the interior of this small, 15th century church to see a great marble altar holding an icon of Our Lady of the Rocks by famous Balkan painter Lovro Dobric. Adorning the walls are various Baroque paintings by well-known Kotor painter Tripo Kokolja, most notable among them being The Crowning of Mary, Mary`s Death and Exaltation of the Holy Mother of God. Silver plaques with reliefs of Boka ships promised protection and help in troubles, and embroidery fashioned from the hair of a woman who lovingly crafted it while waiting for the return of her sailor husband is also on display.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Blue Grotto, Lustica, Kotor Municipality Montenegro
While in Herceg Novi, take a refreshing dip in the iconic Blue Cave. Accessible only by boat, this cave is so named due to the way the light hits the bottom and makes the whole cave look blue
Duration: 30 minutes
Highly suggest but wear very warm clothes during this time of the year. Guide very informative. We went with a family so fun for all. Including driver 7 on speed boat.
Fast boat with a small group (8). The Lady of the Rock was interesting as was the submarine cave.
We were allowed to take a leisurely swim in the blue water cave.
Fast boat but still a 45 minute ride to the cave. Great scenery on the way. Submarine hideaway garage from WWII was cool.
Our guide was wonderfully flexible, and took us to a number of points. The top highlight was the Blue Cave, of course. Helped by great late October weather.
What a beautiful tour! We saw cool caves, Lady of the Rock Chapel, Island and Museum was really excellent, and the Blue Grotto is a MUST see! Our tour guide was very helpful in explaining our stops and in no hurry to let us see all the sights. Really encourage you to do this tour.
Outstanding tour. Our boat captain was the very best. He was so attentive, knowledgeable and interesting. He made the whole thig worth every penny. The caves were interesting, as was the Lady of the Rock church. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone going to KOTOR.
Goran was our captain and he was fantastic! So careful and conscientious with our group. We had a memorable experience. I would highly recommend this tour and ask for Goran!
Well worth it!!! Great ride and fun swim!!! Best way to see the Blue Cave!!! Staff was friendly and also seemed to enjoyed their day!!!
This easy 3 hour boat tour offered spectacular views of Kotor Bay and Our Lady of the Rocks. Swimming near the blue cave for 30 minutes was the perfect way to cool off. Our boat captain was accommodating and knowledgeable, and a lifeguard for those who were nervous to swim in the 10m deep water. The tour was not crowded, and we departed and arrived back on time.
A tour boat across Kotor bay touching Madonna di Scarpello, World War II submarine tunnel and blue cave. Unfortunately it was a windy day so we can't visit blue cave for security reasons. Captain Neno was a fantastic guide that makes everyone confident. Really appreciated
