The JR East Pass is exclusively offered to foreign tourists coming to Japan. It provides you with five days of unlimited travel on all JR East train lines either in the Tohoku area or the Nagano, Niigata area. Moreover, the pass also allows rides on some non-JR trains in the Izu and Nikko areas.

- This pass is exclusive to foreign visitors only. You are required to present your passport upon redemption. - You are advised to also carry your passport when you travel on the train, as you may be required to present it to JR staff. - While travelling in Japan, each visitor may have one JR East Pass at a time. A new pass may not be purchased if another one is still in use. - The pass must be redeemed within three months from the date of purchase. You can use the pass on any five days within 14 days, starting from the date of first use.
- With one adult or child rail pass, up to two children ages one to five years old can travel for free. - Child rail passes will be required for each infant when accompanying infants occupy a seat.
This is pass valid on: - Limited express trains that directly run between the JR East lines and the Tobu Railway lines: Nikko, SPACIA Nikko, Kinugawa, and SPACIA Kinugawa - Local and rapid trains between Shimo-imaichi and Tobu-nikko/Kinugawa-onsen on the Tobu Railway lines. Between the Kurihashi and Shimo-imaichi stations, the pass may only be used on limited express trains that connect directly with Tobu Railway lines. - JR buses (excluding highway and some route buses) within the area
- This pass is not valid on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train.
